National Safety Council- Defensive Driving Insurance Discount Course

Accidents happen. It’s a part of life, and we here at American First Responder understand that. But you can avoid driving accidents by being a defensive driver. If you’ve completed a defensive driving course within the past three years, you could qualify for a Defensive Driver Discount in most of our covered states. Save up to 10% by taking a defensive driving course to get a discount on some coverages. Not only will you be lowering your chances of ending up in accident, you will also be saving money on car insurance.

So what do you learn in a Defensive Driving class? The classes include a review of basic car maintenance, traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, drug and alcohol education and environmental hazards. Drivers must successfully complete and pass the state-certified course to eligible for the discount. Age limitations may apply depending on your state.

This course would benefit drivers with the following auto insurance carriers:

  • Gieco Customers
  • Metlife
  • Travelers
  • And many more insurance companies

One short class can equal long-term savings. Upon completion of one of our NSC courses, you will receive an official NSC Defensive Driving Certificate and may be eligible for insurance discounts.

Check with your insurance agent and state DMV for your state’s regulations.

Note: This defensive driving course is not intended nor approved for motor vehicle point reduction or ticket dismissal programs. Requirements for insurance discounts vary by state. If you intend to take this course for insurance discount, you must verify with your agent or insurance company before you enroll that they will accept the NSC Defensive Driving Certificates of Completion issued by the National Safety Council. Since only one certificate will be issued to each account, family members will need to purchase separate accounts to receive the certificates of their own.
